Won't Start: Safety Switches

Won't Start: Safety Switches

Won't Start: Safety Switches

Sometimes the PTO Switch gets left on when the mow gets turned off. Make sure all the safety switches are engaged (seat switch, control arms, parking brake, PTO switch).

Won't Start: Air Filter

A dirty or wet Air Filter will keep an engine from starting. Try starting it without the air filter. Keep it short. Running a mower without an air filter will damage the engine.

Won't Start: Battery

We have found that batteries last 2 to 4 years. Jump start the mower and run for 30 minutes. If that doesn't charge the battery, it's time to replace it.

Won't Start: Flooded

Hard to Start: Debris Build-up

Won't Start: Battery

If you tried starting it more than 10 time it could be flooded. If fuel is spilling from the exhaust, its probably flooded. Let the engine rest for 30 minutes or remove the sparkplug so the extra fuel will drain from the cylinder.

Won't Start: Bad Fuel

Bad fuel is any fuel older than one month without fuel stabilizer. Remove old fuel and use fresh fuel. Sometimes it's that easy.

Yes! We found this on the mower deck. The easiest way we find to keep a mower clean, is to blow it off with a leaf blower.
